Orange Sauce


  • 2 tsp ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • orange zest
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of pepper
  • chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp Minola Cooking Oil (from frying meatballs)
  • 2 tsp cornstarch diluted in 2 tbsp water


  1. Using the same pan, drain oil but leave 1 tbsp.
  2. Heat the ingredients and let simmer for 2 minutes.
  3. Add cornstarch mixture; mix until thick and soupy.
  4. Remove sauce from heat and serve with meatballs.

Cooking Methods

  1. Place the ground pork in a large container.
  2. Add the breadcrumbs, carrots, onion, pickle relish, cream cheese, cranberries, tomato sauce, orange juice, orange zest, salt and pepper.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Scoop 1/4 cup of meat mixture then form balls.
  5. Poke holes to insert the roast chicken and egg, then seal the balls.
  6. Dredge meatballs with flour.
  7. Let them sit for 10 minutes in the chiller.
  8. Heat oil in pan to fry the meatballs.
  9. Fry until golden brown.
  10. Serve with Orange sauce.
  11. For bento procedure:
  12. Cut lettuce and line bento box.
  13. Place rice decorated with red onion, spring onion, bell peppers and carrots.
  14. Place meatballs.
  15. Cut cheese circles for the snouts.
  16. Cut cheese circles and nori for the eyes.
  17. Cut and place bell pepper circles for the noses.
  18. Cut and insert carrots for the antlers.
  19. Decorate with cut cucumber skin, carrots, cherry tomatoes, squash, and other vegetables as desired.
